This week's update is an exciting one. The first test for the 3D background sequence is complete! Check it out:
Working on this challenge was a fun and educational experience. Completing the test helped me learn better ways of executing the idea that I will try in the next attempt. But, I'll explain what I did in this process.
The first thing I did was paint individual png assets of trees and clouds:
Each tree has three layers of leaves that were then assembled in Blender in a scene on top of a flat plane. Then I animated the camera and drew the owl with a grease pencil.
And that's how it's made! I still have yet to add lighting and I would like to fine-tune the speed of the camera and add more assets in the forest to make it livelier, however, I'm pleased with how the first draft came out.
It's nice to have something to work with in the future, and to have it work in the first place! Working on Blender was really nice and efficient, so I might actually composite my entire film in Blender in the future.
Anyway, that's all for this week!
